New class in Children's Aikido Program
NEW CLASS for kids in the 9-12 year old class ...
WEAPONS CLASS FOR KIDS
We'll be working with the wooden practice staff (jo) and wooden practice sword (bokken), learning the basic moves (suburi), forms, and partner forms (kumitachi). We'll be exploring Japanese calligraphy - brush and ink - as a "sword" practice. We'll be reading about the lives of famous Japanese swordsmen and swordswomen. We'll also be learning about the care and maintenance of weapons as we refurbish the wooden jo and bokken.
Class will be on Fridays from 10 am - 11 am. There is no extra charge for this class. Please do wear gis, and bring shoes you can wear outside in the orchard as much of the class will be outside. This is a more serious class, and requires students to be more serious about their practice.
